Teaching aims:
1.Make the students master the following new words and phrases:
just, go to sleep, wake up, have fun, get up, a.m, p.m , have assembly, do after-school activities, do homework
2.Make the students grasp the following new expressions.
Teaching difficulties:
1. Make the students understand Millie’s day at school.
2. Make the students use the simple present tense to describe their days at school.
Teaching steps:
Step 1. Brain storming
Have a brain storming.
1) How many days are there in a week?
2) How many days do you go to school?
3) How many hours are there in a day?
4) How many hours do you sleep?
Step2. Enjoy a song
Does the boy sleep? Have them enjoy a song This is the way . Point out that the boy starts his day. And ask some questions.
Step3. Comic strips
1. T: Does Eddie sleep? Ss: No.
T: Hobo wakes him up. It’s time for breakfast.
Before watch the video of the dialogue, ask some questions:
1.) Who wakes Eddie up?
2.) Is it time to have breakfast?
3.) What does he want to do after lunch?
4.) Does Eddie like sleeping?
5.) Does he know how to have fun?
2. Ask the students read the dialogue together.
3. Try to act it out
4. They ask some questions if they do not understand.
1) “just” means 确实
2) What are you going to do? 你打算干什么?
3) how to have fun 如何享乐
4) It’s time to do sth. = It’s time for sth.
Step4. Presentation
1. Eddie’s day is like this:
Wake up ----- have breakfast---- go to sleep----- have lunch------ go to sleep Is Eddie a lazy dog?
2. Look at some pictures and learn some new phrases
Do morning exercises have lessons
Do after-school activities take the dog for a walk
3. Let’s learn Millie’s day.
Try to do “T” or “F” questions according to the table.
(1) Mille does morning exercises at 7:30.
(2) Mille has lessons at 8:25 a.m and 1:30 p.m.
(3) Mille does after-school activities at 3:30 p.m.
(4) Mille goes to bed at 10:00.
3. Try to describe her activities with the whole sentences.
Millie gets up at 6.30 a.m. …. ….
4. Make up dialogues according to the table.
A:What time does Millie get up?
B: She gets up at 6.30a.m.
A: Does she eat breakfast at 6.30a.m.?
B: Yes, she does./No, she doesn’t.
5. Complete the table of “My day” and ask some of the students to show their tables.
Step 5. Writing
1. Give them a model
I am Amy. I am a happy girl. I am 12 years old. I study at Beijing Sunshine Secondary School. I love my school. I have many friends here.
In the morning, I get up at 6.30a.m. I go to school at 7.30a.m. I finish classes at 3.20p.m. Sometimes, I play tennis from 3.30p.m. to 4.20p.m. In the evening, I spend an hour doing my homework. I sleep at 9.30p.m.
2. Get Ss talk about their own days with the model.
3. Write the short passage in their books.
